The cost of therapy is one of the most common reasons people hesitate to start. Below is what we charge, how insurance fits in, and what to do if cost is part of what's holding you back.

What does a session cost?

We charge by session length, not by therapist. Most clients meet weekly to start, and we'll reassess together as we go. Self-pay rates:

All sessions are available in-person at our Knoxville office or via telehealth.

Do you take my insurance?

We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBS). If you have one of those, we'll bill them directly and you'll pay your standard copay.

For all other insurance, we are out-of-network. On request we can provide a superbill, a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurer for potential out-of-network reimbursement. The amount reimbursed varies by plan, so it's worth calling your insurance to ask about out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits before your first session.

Two details worth knowing up front. Insurance applies to individual sessions only; couples counseling is self-pay regardless of plan. And Samantha sees clients on a private-pay basis only, since LMSWs are not yet eligible to bill insurance directly.

What if cost is a concern?

We hold a small number of sliding scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship. If cost is part of what's keeping you from reaching out, mention it when you contact us.

How do payments work?

Payment is collected at the time of each session via card on file. There are no signup fees and no surprises on the back end.
